ATAAC | Australian Teens Against Animal Cruelty - Jordann reviews Green Gourmet

Located on the trendy King Street, in the Heart of Newtown, sits a little treasure known as Green Gourmet.

It offers a delicious 100% vegan cuisine, following the style of Chinese dishes and flavours. No meat, dairy, egg, onion or garlic features in any of the dishes and selected dishes are even gluten free!

The restaurant was established in 1998, and is still unbelievably popular, becoming a regular meal choice for many vegans in the Sydney area.

The food is served in a buffet style, giving you over 30 mouth watering options. Once you have filled your plate, you pay by weight, so you can eat as much or as little as you like!

The items on offer range from dumplings, crispy Beijing mock ‘duck’, vegetable curries, salt and pepper ‘squid’, too many soups to choose from, sweet and sour taro fritters, and much, much more! And let's not forget the dessert, which are all super yummy, and completely guilt free, including soy ice-cream in all sorts of creative flavours.

Greens Gourmet has a cosy atmosphere, with a laid back dining style, perfect for catching up with your nearest and dearest.

It is open Lunch and Dinner, with Yum Cha lunch being served on Saturdays and Sundays. Because of the variety of different food choices and types of flavour, meat eaters can enjoy the food too so take them along! It's friendly to everyone. Green Gourmet is one of my FAVOURITE places to eat, and I recommend it to anyone and everyone I meet. So grab a group of friends and try it out!

RIP to a great man and a really good Samaritan- Last year Mr Date grabbed headlines around the world after he volunteered to knit sweaters for little penguins on Phillip Island in the wake of an oil spill. Mr Date said he always made sure his jumpers for the tiny penguins - who can be poisoned by oil spills - were up to par. 'I like to make it without mistakes and I don't excuse myself for doing it. (But) I think there is an excuse for a person who's gone beyond the normal span of life'
