Dear [FIRSTNAME] ,
What's up guys!
There's quite a lot going on around Australia to do with animals lately.
And we want you guys to get involved!
Sydney:
What? Protest against Japanese whaling and dolphin slaughter.
When? Wednesday 13th of January
Why? Because in this day and age whales and dolphins should not be murdered!
Details? Meeting at Martin Place, next to the Channel 7 studios. Check out the facebook group here.
Brisbane:
What? Protest against Lennon Bros Circus
When? Wednesday 20th of January and Sunday the 14th of February
Why? Majestic lions, monkeys, alpacas and horses are being used and exploited for people's entertainment. Need I say more?
Details? Get in contact with ATAAC's good friend Carolyn Bailey, who is organising the demos, on carolyn_2602@bigpond.com.
2. What? Green Earth Festival
When? 13th March, 2010
Why? Festivals are a great way for like-minded people to get together, swap ideas, and purchase some great cruelty free stuff!
Details? Check out the website here.
Melbourne:
1. What? Soi Dog Rescue Thailand's documentary night
When? Friday the 5th of February
Why? We visited Soi Dog Rescue in Thailand in April 2008, giving them much needed veterinary supplies and a monetary donation. They are a fantastic shelter that needs all the help and support they can get. The work they do is truly inspirational, so please come along and support them and get ready to be inspired!
Details? Tickets are $35 and include food and desert. Read here for all of the details.
2. What? Join the 2010 Duck Rescue team!
When? 20 March, 2010
Why? Waterbird numbers are already at a dangerously low level and with the threat of the drought we should be protecting these animals, rather than killing them.
Details? Check out http://www.duck.org.au/ for more info on how to get involved.
3. What? Kids Day Out at Edgar's Mission
When? Sunday 17th January
Why? Edgar's Mission is a symbol of hope and compassion in the world. A haven for rescued farm animals from pigs to cows to chickens, and with the amazing Pam Ahern at the helm, Edgar's Mission must be visited by everyone!
Details? Entree is free. Check out Edgar's Mission's site here or contact Pam on 0408 397 301 or info@edgarsmission.org.au.
4. What? 'Being an effective animal rights activist'
Details: we are still in talks with the lady organising this one day workshop, once we have details we will post it on our facebook page. Stay tuned.
As always, protests/demos/festivals and campaigns only work when lots of people are involved. If you or anyone else you know would be interested, PLEASE let them know what's going on! All the listed events are extremely worthwhile and need all of the support they can get.
Secondly, if you know of or are organising protests/demos/festivals etc please let us know! We will gladly promote it for you on our website and facebook page, regardless of what state it is in.
