The Truth About The Body Shop
The Body Shop is renowned as being all natural and one of the first major companies to oppose animal testing. Since it first opened in England in 1976, the Body Shop grew; the world seemed to want to embrace cruelty free, natural products. The Body Shop prided itself on ensuring it would never test any of its products on animals as they are ‘cruel and unnecessary’ and would work to improve conditions for not only animals but humans as well. However in 2006 the late Anita Roddick (founder of the Body Shop) sold her business to animal-torturing/cold-hearted-rabbit abusing L’oreal for a deal in the hundreds of millions. Anita Roddick sold out her beliefs and her morals for the almighty dollar. No longer is the Body Shop the untarnished, all-natural haven for animals but when you buy a product from the store a cut is being given to the bank account of L’oreal.
There are many people who believe that it is irrelevant that L’oreal now own the Body Shop as long as the store continues to oppose animal testing. However others refuse to give their dollar knowing it is supporting and funding a company that poisons and kills animals. We will leave the decision up to you to decide.
